Arsene Wenger today confirmed Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner will be back in full training in three weeks. Nicklas was originally set to play against Manchester City in the Carling Cup tie at the City of Manchester but will now more than be short of fitness for the tie.

Nicklas comeback from injury is likely to be pencilled in for Arsenal’s last group tie away in Greece, against champions Olympiakos. In other news Denmark defeated the USA 3-1 in Copenhagen, looking in good stead for the upcoming World Cup Finals this summer. All Arsenal and Danish fans along with myself hopes Nicklas has a speedy recovery, leave your messages of support.

Nicklas Bendtner has claimed his most prestigious award yet after being named the Danish Footballer of the Year for 2009.

The award was presented to the injury-striken front-man in a special programme called Dansk Fodbold Award on the TV2 television network in his homeland. The prize is decided upon by Danish journalists who all agreed that Nicklas was the rightful successor to Martin Laursen’s crown. The 21-year-old is one of the youngest to every collect the gong to which he will add to his Danish Young Footballer of the Year award. Nick also scooped the award for Danish Goal of the Year in the ceremony in Copenhagen.

The news was welcome for both Bendtner and his fans after confirmation that he would be out of action for Denmark and Arsenal over the forthcoming 4-6 weeks after having key-hole surgery on a troublesome groin strain. The official line from the club is that it was only minor and that the operation was carried out by a groin specialist in Germany.

Nicklas aggravated the problem during the 3-0 win over Tottenham on the 31st of October and Arsene Wenger has sanctioned the surgery in a bid to cure the niggling injury which has previously kept Nicklas out for short spells. However, he has managed two Premier League goals this term and a fully fit and firing Bendtner will no doubt be a welcome addiction to Arsenal’s already rampant strike-force. Don’t say you were not warned.

Nicklas Bendtner is set to go under the knife back in Denmark this Wednesday, following problems with his thigh in recent weeks he has decided its time for surgery. Nicklas first picked up the injury in a International World Cup qualifier for Denmark against Hungary. Arsenal played him against Spurs and the injury re-occured unfortunately NB news cannot reveal exactly when Nicklas will be back playing but it is likely to be in 4-5 weeks.

Nicklas commented on the matter saying . . .

I will have an examination on Tuesday and then go on to have surgery on Wednesday.

Nicklas Bendtner believes nothing will stop him from becoming one of the best strikers in the world. In this interview Nicklas talks about his ambitions in the future, and how it is important to be confident within yourself. Many people forget Nicklas Bendtner is only 21, not many 21 year olds have achieved what this young man has done.

Bendtner said . . .

Within five years I want to be the top scorer in the Premier League and I want to be known as a world-class striker. And it will happen. Trust me, it will happen. I look around at other players, I see my own ability and I can’t see anything that tells me it won’t happen. I’m sure people will think ‘What is he talking about?’ But as I have done before, and as I will do again, I will sit at the other end and laugh at those people when it is all done.

 

Nicklas then went on to talk about the infamous pink boots and how the media over reacted to him wearing these colour boots. He said . . .

People made a big fuss because it is meant to be a girl’s colour. They were outraged because they said it shouldn’t appear in sport. Well, we are all different. I have my own opinion about what is a man and what is not a man. Yes, every young girl wants pink clothes but sometimes you’ve got to bring something different to the table.

The interviewer then asked Bendtner do you ever have self doubt. Bendtner said . . .

Not at all. There has never been any doubt in my mind about anything to do with me. You can ask the coaches when I was 16, and even the other [youth team] players. I knew back then, and I would say it openly, that I would go on to play for the first team. And they would go, ‘Huh, what makes you think it’s going to be you?’ But I always said I would make it and I had no problem telling other people about it.”You need confidence and I have always had it. I have started this season better than I have started any other season but I know there is a lot more to come and I know the people here know that as well. So I’m quite comfortable about how things are going to progress.

A Nicklas Bendtner inspired Denmark side over came Sweden this evening in a battle of Scandinavia to claim the final three World Cup qualifying points they needed to reach next summers tournament, with bragging rights for the natives to boot.

The exciting forward has led his country’s charge to South Africa and started on the left hand side against the Swede’s who boasted Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack. Nicklas has been compared to the Barcelona front man and the two are tipped as the leading lights for their respective national teams.

Denmark began well in an entertaining opening half an hour. Michael Jakobsen had a powerful drive go inches wide before goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson was forced into a stunning save to deny Martin Jorgensen. But back came the visitors in the form of the aforementioned Ibrahimovic and Anders Svensson but both efforts were comfortable for Thomas Sorensen.

The hosts pushed harder for the goal in the second half via Dennis Rommedahl’s powerful effort, before Rommedahl combined with Bendtner to allow the Arsenal striker a shot at goal, but Isaksson was again on hand. Sweden thought they’d done enough when Henrik Larsson clipped home but the offside flag ruled out any hope of a shock winner. Nicklas’ former Birmingham team mate Seb Larsson came on with 25 minutes left and he would needed shortly after as the Danes finally broke the deadlock.

Bendtner’s clever run down the left created space, and then a perfectly weighted ball picked out Jakob Poulsen who made no mistake with an excellent finish. Sorensen made two superb saves late on but Denmark held on to take all three points and secure their place in next summers World Cup. The stage has been set for Bendtner to shine.

Nicklas Bendtner, 21, swerved off the roads this morning damaging his new Aston Martin car, he was on his way to training at London Colney. Nicklas crashed on the Barnet bypass in Borehamwood, Herts. Hertfordshire police commented on the matter saying:

We were called at 10.15am to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision. A black Aston Martin vehicle had left the road. The driver was not seriously injured.

Nicklas will now miss tomorrow’s Champions League tie against Greek champions, Olympiakos. Nicklas Bendtner News would just like to say get well soon Nicklas!!

Our featured player scored again last night in the 1-1 draw Denmark claimed in Albania. Olsen’s side will look back at this as 2 massive points dropped and now only lie 3 points ahead of Sweden, who lie in second and 5 ahead of mighty Portugal. Denmark took the lead in the 40th minute after much pressure on the hosts goal.

Christian Poulsen who plays his trade in Serie A, hit a long diagonal ball over the top from near the centre circle, Bendtner then ran onto it and looped his header superbly over the on-rushing keeper it was 0-1 to the visitors – Denmark. Soon after the interval Albania looked a changed side, the manager must have said some harsh words and Albania’s Bogdani crepped in a equaliser it was 1-1.

Not many chances went either way after these goals, with Denmark dominating much of the possesion. Denmark manager Morten Olsen was obviously not happy, baring in mind if Denmark won they would have booked their plane tickets to South Africa next summer.

Danish manager Olsen said

We didn’t play football in the second half. We have to be very disappointed about that. We have to win matches like this. It’s our own fault
