Bendtner On Target For Denmark
Arsenal hit-man Nicklas Bendtner was on target tonight for Denmark, as they drew 1-1 with their Czech counter-parts in a game dominated with substitutes and fouls. After a two day training camp Bendtner partnered Villareal’s Jon Dahl Tomasson in attack, and wearing the number 11 shirt, he took just 25 minutes to get on the score-sheet, finishing beyond Czech keeper Jaromir Blazek after swapping passes with debutant Thomas Kristensen.
Despite Denmark’s dominance the home-side failed to grab a second, and were punished just before half time, when giant striker Jan Koller bulleted Czech Republic level on 42 minutes, with a trademark header that was crossed in by Libor Sionko, an interesting second half was in prospect. With Denmark on top, both coaches rotated at half time, and during the second half, and the game lost its previous entertaining manner and flow, Tomasson was replaced with Mikkel Thygssen and had a new strike partner for the second half.
And that’s how it would finish, 1-1, Nicklas played the full 90 minutes, that will stand him in good stead in the final run it, with the goal helping his confidence. He will now fly back to London tomorrow and report for training in the afternoon as Wenger asses his side ahead of the game against Bolton, stay locked to Nicklas Bendtner News, for a full match preview ahead of this game.
