Bendtner Scores As Arsenal Draw

Alot of players were rested today for both teams because of the midweek game between these two sides at Anfield in the Uefa Champions League, Arsenal rested Adebayor, Senderos, Hleb, whilst Van Persie was carrying an injury, Liverpool rested Gerrard, Torres, Hyypia, and Mascherano suspended.

                                                         FIRST HALF

The game started very quite and the Emirates Stadium didn’t seem its lively self, maybe everyone inside the stadium had their mind on Tuesday nights game at Anfield in part 3 of the trilogy.Arsenal started quitely with a heavily rotated side with Traore, Walcott, our featured player Nicklas Bendtner, Justin Hoyte, and Gilberto started, and it was Peter Crouch with the first chance J. Hoyte losing out in possesion and Crouch collecting the ball 30 yards out hitting the ball ferociously Almunia produced a wonderful save whilst been in mid-air. It was Liverpool who had the upper hand in the first quarter, a few mins later Crouch showed good feet and slid a through ball to Riise who fired miles over on his weak foot.

Then Arsenal started to come back into the game and Flamini fed Walcott and he was running at the liverpool defence all they could do is back off with the lightning speed of Theo but Carragher slid in and the ball fell to Bendtner inside the area but the sidefoot effort went straight to the keeper, it seemed Arsenal had finally woke up after the early kick off and started to create chances and play there usual free flowing football, but then Liverpool struck a blow Reina hit a long ball upfield Crouch touched it down for Benayoun and he gave it back to Crouch and he cut in cleverly and scuffed a shot into the corner of the net, it was a blow especially right on half time for Arsenal so wenger would have to get his troops in and motivate them for the second half.

                                                        HALF TIME

As both teams came out of the tunnel there appeared to be no subs made, Arsenal came flying out the blocks and Wenger must of motivated them for the second period, first Theo Walcott terrorising Liverpool’s defence and shooting before the shot been deflected out for a corner, from the resulting corner Kolo Toure got a yard on his marker and had a header that just floated wide.

Then in the 55th minute the fleet footed Armand Traore, used his pace down the left and outpaced Jermaine Pennant before Pennant hacked him down, Free kick halfway through the Liverpool half, Cesc Fabregas swung it in expertely, and he had done it again, scored at the Emirates, Nicklas Bendtner rose highest and headed in an absolute bullet header, the stadium erupted by the sound of goalscorer for Arsenal ” NUMBER 26 NICKLAS BENDTNER”. Wenger then made made a substitute Adebayor on for Justin Hoyte, everyone thought it would be Adebayor & Bendtner upfront but it was more of a 4-3-3 with Nicklas on the left, Walcott on the right and Adebayor in the centre, then Liverpool brought on their captain Steven Gerrard to add an attacking threat but attacks were a rarity for Liverpool in the second half, minutes later Bendtner picked up the ball on the left and beat to players with pace and crossed it in but the cross was blocked and out for a corner.

Arsenal were starting to dominate proceedings and was getting alot of joy down the left with Clichy and Bendtner linking up well and Clichy put a cross in which Gallas nearly got to, he recieved a bloody nose for his troubles he went down the tunnel to get a new shirt, both managers went for the final gamble Hleb came on for Flamini and Torres and Voronin came on for Liverpool with 9 minutes to go. Against the run of play Voronin went around Almunia but Toure done well and sent him so wide he couldn’t score from the angle he was at then in the last minute Bendtner cushioned a brilliant header into the path of Alexander Hleb, but Hleb’s touch for once let him down and the chance was gone. The game ended 1-1 and Arsenal’s chances of winning the title this year looked slim.

  1. yeah, i was happy for him, but he has celebrated the goal alone no ? that’s very very nasty, I cant stand that, he doesnt deserve that!! he’s so great according to me…

  2. Love this new skin and banner mate, looks really classy.

    top work Matthew

  3. Yes – am very curious as to why nobody celebrated with him. This is very concerning as it indicates that there is a reason that many team-members dislike Bendtner. Ofcourse this should not be happening – but does anybody know why his team-mates don’t like him?

  4. i dont think it is because his teamates dont like him i think the team just wanted the ball back in the centre to restart the match and get the winner, thn for the comments ppl 🙂

  5. I find that hard to believe – but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s to Bendtner scoring the winner at Anfield and me being proved wrong…
