Bendtner 2007/08 Round Up

This season has been very successful for Nicklas Bendtner, after coming back from a loan spell at Birmingham City where he scored 13 goals, he came back and was given the number 26 shirt he made he’s first start for the gunners against Lazio where he impressed and grabbed a goal on hes full debut, Then after the Amsterdam Tournament, Bendtner made he’s first appearance at the Emirates Stadium the Gunners home ground he also scored and setup a goal for now departured Mathieu Flamini, and also scored, It was a good pre season for Nicklas Bendtner.


Bendtner was starting to get his name known by the Arsenal fans, he came on in the first game of the season against Fulham and shined and nearly scored with a header, Then the Carling Cup came along where Bendtner made he’s Arsenal debut against Sunderland away back in 2005, he was now starting 2 years later at the Emirates and again impressed and scored a thumping header, 1 month later Nicklas Bendtner was brought on against Slavia Prague and scored he’s first Uefa Champions League goal after completing a good move with Emmanuel Eboue, he added to he’s Uefa Champions League account by scoring against Steau Bucharest after a through ball by Van Persie.


Bendtner’s first Premiership goal was against arch rivals Tottenham, with hes first touch!, after coming on as a substitute, it holds the record for the fastest goal by a substitute 1.8 seconds, after that goal the fans were sure to remember the Dane’s name!, He’s first Premier League start was astonishingly after Christmas on the 29th December against Everton after two bookings he was sent off, Nicklas Bendtner pleaded with Wenger to give him a few more starts in January and Wenger in the new year started giving Nicklas more chances.


2008 started well for Nicklas, he made he’s FA Cup debut for Arsenal at Turf Moor (Burnley), and again scored after making a good run in behind the defence and rounding the keeper to score, in March he scored against Aston Villa to make Arsenal 1 point clear of Manchester United, He also scored against Liverpool in the Premiership with a header from a free kick from play maker Cesc Fabregas. Bendtner started against Derby on April 28th and scored with a neat one-two with Dutchman Van Persie. Then Nicklas played a part in a goal with a defence splitting one-two with Clichy who setup Adebayor for a goal. He’s final goal of the season came in the penultamate game, which was the last at the Emirates for this season against Everton with a bullet header after a great cross by young Frenchman Armand Traore.


This has been a great season for Danish youngster Nicklas Bendtner he has broke through to be a regular fixture in the Arsenal 16, and has grabbed 9 goals also setting up 7 goals in 17 starts which is really good, and he has also became Denmarks no.1 striker and scored 4 goals this term against Northern Ireland, Iceland, Czech Republic, and Slovenia, he was also Euro 2008 Qualifiying group F top assister, so its been a great season for Bendtner he has developed immenselly and will look now to next season to hold down a place in Arsenal’s starting XI and also keep playing for Denmark, Well done Nick its been a great season 😀
