Denmark 0-3 Spain Match Report
Spain beat Denmark 3-0 tonight at the Parken Stadium goals from Xabi Alonso (2) and Xavi. Spain controlled most of the game with Denmark having their moments. Our featured player Nicklas Bendtner played the full 90 minutes.
Bendtner and Tomasson got the game underway and in early as the 45 second Agger played a long ball in the air which Bendtner chested down wonderfully and spreaded it out wide but the Jensen’s cross went straight into the arms of Casillas. In the 5th minute Denmark made a mistake at the back Martin Laursen gettting it caught under hes feet, forcing goalkeeper Sorensen to clear into touch for a Spain throw deep in Denmark’s half.
In the 10th minute Denmark created the first real chance of the game Bendtner picked up the ball out wide whipped in a dangerous cross Tomasson cushioned it back for Daniel Jensen who shot towards goal but Casillas at full stretch tipped it around the post. 6 Minutes later Torres showed magnificent skill to beat his man and looked to be brought down in the box but the referee said no penalty.
Suddenly Denmark broke away Rommedahl cut in and saw the run of Bendtner who shot but hit the sidenetting from an acute angle Denmark and Bendtner was looking dangerous on the break. In the 21st minute Daniel Agger charged forward in a lung busting run from Centre back beat two Spain defenders before smashing it wide of the post from 20 yards.
With 30 minutes gone Denmark was dominating posession wise. In the 33rd minute Bendtner showed great grit and determanation reaching a ball he had no right to get Raul Albiol tried to sheperd the ball out of play but Bendtner ran around him and used his strength to keep the ball in play he ran into the box squared it it looked to be heading in off a deflection of a Puyol but Casillas got down well to save.
In the last chance of the first half Torres crossed it in the box the ball was headed away by Martin Laursen and it fell straight to Xavi Hernandez who shot low down to the left but Thomas Sorensen showed great reflexes to pull of a world class save down to his right.
Spain got things underway in the second half they had brought on Xabi Alonso and Diego Capel. In the 50th minute Spain took the lead Torres played a neat one-two with Iniesta, Torres cut it back for Xabi Alonso who neatly volleyed it into the top corner it was 0-1 to the visitors.
Spain had been dominating most of this second half posession wise and they was playing the sort of football they had played in the European Championships quick passing into feet, and good movement of the ball. In the 73rd minute Spain doubled there lead Diego Capel the substitute showing good work squared it to Xavi Hernandez his first touch was good took it out of his feet and from 25 yards out delightfully curled it into the bottom right hand corner it was 0-2.
The game had lost its interest now that Spain had that killer second goal and looked to hold onto that with playing the keep ball as the clock slowly ticked down. Spain grabbed a third in stoppage time through more good work from Diego Capel who crossed it to the back post and Xabi Alonso was there to grab his second and Spain’s third that was the last action of the match.
