Nicklas Bendtner and his fellow team-mates raced towards Manuel Almunia to embrace the Spaniard after seeing out a hectic 120 minutes of football – losing 1-0 in normal time but winning 7-6 on penalties.

Danish hotshot Bendtner was fairly lively for the 75 minutes that he was involved in, but Arsenal in whole were not at their best. The 21-year-old faced a combative Roma backline and found it difficult to break them down.

As a result, he was replaced by Eduardo 15 minutes from full-time.

A deserved win followed in what proved to be penalty shoot-out drama.

  1. I thought he was actually one of our best, in the 1st half especially. He tried and sparked a few times but didn’t really get anywhere but the team as a whole was pretty bad in that half. Though I don’t really like him on the left side, he should be up front or at least on the right where he has made a few really good substitute apperances previously. But it’s nice to see him get some games atm, will be important for him for the future.

  2. I’ve always thought he plays best on the right side as well, it’s where he scores all of his goals from so I thought it was weird he was played on the left.
