Match Report: Denmark Gain Vital 3 Points + Extended Match Highlights *Video* NB Plays Full 90

Nicklas Bendtner played the full 90 minutes in Iceland on a really bad pitch, but The Dane’s got the job done. It was like watching Arsenal/Barcelona match at times, with Denmark totally out playing the Icelandic with their short sharp passing possesion play. As the half went on Nicklas Bendtner got more involved in the game and was dropping deep to collect the ball and tried a few clever dinks over the top of the defence but they were just cut out. First chance came on the 20 min mark, Nicklas Bendtner drifting out to the Left, before cutting inside on his right smartly, before hitting a curling effort just over the bar it was a really good effort.

It was one way traffic as the Dane’s continued to pile on the pressure, at times the pitch wasn’t helping matters to their passing game. Second chance feel to Christian Eriksen, who from an acute angle fired just wide, it was 0-0 at the break, in a must win for Denmark. Iceland looked to use their physical strength and rugged style play as the game went on and were looking to get the ball as much as possible to the former Barca player Eidur Gudjohnssen to make things happen but he was often crowded out. The goal came on the hour, Nicklas Bendtner collecting the ball deep outside the box, he waited for the right moment to lay it off to Schone who hit a bullet into the bottom corner it was 0-1 to Denmark. Ajax whizkid Christian Eriksen got their second goal in the 74th minute to put the result beyond any doubt. Rommedahl had the ball out wide, before sharply passing it into the box to the unmarked Eriksen who finished neatly to the keepers left and the result looked now safe in the hands of Denmark.

Nicklas Bendtner played quite well, and showed some clever  touches and was always willing to drop deep and link play with his midfielders. He should’ve put away one chance in the first half but the keeper spread himself well.
