Arsene Wenger: Nicklas Bendtner will stay at Arsenal after failure to sign a new striker


Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Nicklas Bendtner will play for the club next season after the Gunners failed to bring in another striker.

Wenger has been chasing a big name forward all summer, with Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez and Karim Benzema among the targets.

However, with all of those strikers now unlikely to move to the Emirates, Wenger says he is ready to give fringe forward Bendtner a chance to impress again.

‘The chance for Bendtner to leave now is very small,’ said Wenger.

‘If he comes back well and gets fit, I will use him.’

The Dane, who admitted he wanted to quit Arsenal in June, has been training on his own at London Colney after a failed loan spell with Juventus last season.
